Day 11 - Spend in Airport and Flight

3/11/08
We touched down at DBX airport at 8.45am… Dubai is 4 hours later than us…  This is a short transit, after going through security checks. We only have ½ hr to wandering in duty free before our DBX to KUL flight… I still have a 50 Dirham with me, which I spend it buying a bar of cigarettes for my uncle…
The flight to KUL is half full only and lucky thing is that annoying little devil is not in the same flight. Not long after we departed…  we were served a light snack again…. And the other meal, I don’t know I should classified it as lunch or dinner…  The main course I choose is Chicken breast cook in plum sauce, come in a set of appetizer… cold shrimp, green salads, a too sweet mango moose pudding and drinks… Emirates airlines is so generous in their in flight meal… you’ll feel overwhelm with the unlimited serving of drinks…
Our flight touched down at 9.25pm at KLIA…. We spend some time for duty free shopping and then go to the conveyor belt to get our luggage….. we waited till the last piece of luggage is collected and still no sign of our luggage… So, end up our luggage is delayed at the Dubai Airport, we have to make a report at the luggage office and the luggage will be send to our home the next day….
So disappointed!!!! I thought we can stay awake and dig through the luggage for our shopping victory!

Day 10 - Last Day in London

2/11/2008
Today is our last day in London, our Emirates flight back to KUL will be departure at 11pm from Heathrow Airport London. Wake up and had the last “worst breakfast” in Hostel 639, we deposited our luggage at the hotel and went out to post Leks belonging back…  A small box of approximately 9kg stuff by sea freight cost almost RM800~!!!! OMG!!! That’s just too expensive.
After getting the postage things done, we are free to explore the shopping street again till afternoon.  I need to go back to Primark to change for BB’s shirt as I bought a wrong size for him… me so blur and heartless… don’t even know what is my bb’s size…  There is a good thing about Primark, you can have anything exchange without question asked ask long as you keep the receipt within 7 days. Either in cash or goods… wow, that’s so good, or your item doesn’t have to be in price tag or whatever…  But what if I bought something, wear it for a certain occasion and exchange back in cash??????
We shop again at Primark.. You just can’t get enough of it lah… The price is so low you can’t find European quality clothing elsewhere in the world… I bought some inner wear this time…
We walked in to H & M for a walk also… H & M stuff is way more expensive compare to Primark. But I found stealth in a bargain corner. £1 for a cotton dress~ wow…. This would be the cheapest thing I can get in London!!!! I just love to shop in London….. all nice stuff sell in cheap price… even Top shop, Dorothy Perkins are selling at dirt cheap price… me just too poor to grab everything home lah… Mum didn’t really manage to get a lot of clothing…. Her main task is to get unlimited souvenir back home!!!
We then decide to have lunch at Wasabi once again… We ate curry and sweet and sour chicken fried rice… so weird combination right??? But trust me… its good!!!  Oxford street Wasabi is much more crowded and don’t understand why… the Caucasian just loves heavy taste food… like we do!!!!! We have to immediately get up once finish our last spoon of rice…. So many hungry ghost are waiting for your seats…
After that I went to Carphone warehouse to help Lek to get a LG shine phone… I phone is selling here with contract at only £139…. Wow… that’s cheap…. But too bad I can’t buy it…Anyway… I still prefer the conventional phone….
We window shops for a little while more and leave at about 4 to go back to collect our luggage and head to the airport….
Carrying super size luggage is definitely not an easy task for taking the underground to airport.. The Piccadilly line connects direct to Heathrow Terminal 1-4. We are coming from Kensal Green and means we need to have a interchange at Piccadilly Circus, the most busy underground station in London, it’s a great torture to carry so heavy luggage without a lift…
We reach Heathrow at last at 6 something…. Our flights depart from Terminal 3… Its strange here.. Its unlike any other world class airport, you walk in to a big hall with lots of shops, restaurant and café… Here at Heathrow, if you are not a passenger… you sit outside the building….  In open air… once you walk into the building, it’s the check in counter… Before the check in, we had our dinner, Subway sandwich outside the terminal. Long Haul flight needs 4 hrs earlier to check in… We are among the first who check in. After that we were guide to go to upper level….
Wow… The departure hall is a heaven!!! With cafes, high class restaurants, duty free shops and many many more luxurious brand boutique… I help sis to buy a Gucci back at only £259…  Me personally obsessed with a Burberry Sling bag, only £169… so worth it… but I end up didn’t buy it!!! Regretzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The waiting time for departure is not too slow in Heathrow as you have so many shops to walk around… LCCT waiting time is the most terrible….you can check in, wait, sleep, wait again, and sleep… then it’ll be your boarding time!!!
While at the boarding gate… we saw a Indian couple with an extremely spoilt kid daughter… She keep on crying and screaming for no reason..  And her parent just leaves her doing it… so irritating… if my daughter were to do this, I’m going to give her a big whack!!! And the unluckiest thing is, they are seating beside me in the aircraft!!!!!
There the EK006 from LHR to DXB departed… I was just so tired and sleep in plane.. This little evil beside me is so noisy she on and off cry and scream and wake the hell up for every passenger…. So annoying!!! Can any kind crew stuff a bundle of cloth into her mouth!!!!!
Me wake up when being served the supper… nothing special… sandwich like our coming flight… but way better and breakfast when we almost reaching Dubai.

Day 9 - The Thames Cruise and shopping day in London

1/11/08

We are back to London again!!! Another 2 days for visiting and mainly for shopping before we go back!!!

We reached the Victoria station real early… all shops is closed, its only 4.50am… what to do??? We just sat and wait at the station.. Outside the freezing wind is blowing soooo strong…. After an hour of lepak… we took the walk back to the main Victoria train station…  We walk through the whole station and only found Mcdonald available for breakfast… So, we got ourselves a steaming hot coffee and warm breakfast… I never like steaming hot stuff, but in this cold weather, it’s the best thing I would like to have!!! I really feel like a loafer for taking my meals at the train station bench!!!

We then take the earliest underground to Trafalgar Square… Trafalgar square is London city’s most vibrant open space and it is often a venue to host big events!! The coming Christmas wonderland is going to take place here… An outdoor snow
Park!! How good if I’m here!!! Again, restoration work is taking place here and access to the square is block… sigh….

Trafalgar Square

After that, we go back to waterloo station to take back Lek’s gigantic luggage to our hotel. We took back all the luggage we deposited… God!!! Oh no!!! We were given a room at the 4th floor… no lift… means we have to carry these tones of luggage up??? We were panting heavily after we move the entire luggage up… This is definitely the worst room any guest would want to stay in, as I mentioned In my earlier post,
Kensal Green is a cemetery neighborhood, we have to walk pass a passageway over looking endless view of graveyards before we can reach the room…. And the room is terrible… it stinks and wait!!! Door knob also spoilt!! I quickly use this as a reason to ask for room change… NO WAY FOR ME TO OVERNIGHT HERE.. We then were change to the 2nd floor rooms…. We have to move the heavy luggage down!!!! Sigh…. Exhausted after doing so!!!!

We took a short rest and change and then go out for our next tour…. The ThamesRiver Cruise!! Yay!! Looking forward!!! Sailing on the most scenatic river in London, passing through Big Ben, London Eye, Tower bridge to the Greenwich..

We took the Thames clipper cost £5 per way from Waterloo pier to the Greenwich Pier.. This river cruise is a strong recommendation from Lek… Oh yeah, I’ve tried all the sky, land and sea transport during this trip!!!

Thames Clipper is an air conditioned river cruise; we chose a seat nearest to the fore for best view…

The Millenium Bridge
The Thames Clipper Cruise
The Famous London Bridge, It has not fallen down yet!!!!
The Tower Bridge
Cruised pass MillenniumBridge, LondonBridge, BlackfriarBridge then Tower bridge and at last it reaches to the Greenwich Pier…

The Greenwich Foot Tunnel
The Royal Maritime museum, The Queen’s house and the Royal Observatory is all located here in the Greenwich town…
We first walk to the NationalMaritimeMuseum, A place detailing stories of discovery and endeavor from Britain’s seafaring past. There are a lot of ship model from the most antique to the recent most high technology ships in this era… A must see is the exquisitely gilded Prince Frederick’s barge…(Do not allow photography), there are also ancient Captain and sailor’s uniform and accessories exhibit here.

Next is the Queen’s house located next to the National Maritime Museum, Queens house was once a richly furnished summer villa for Queen Henrietta Maria and now and elegant setting for fine art and entertaining and display the history of Greenwich in paintings.

The Queen's house
A walk passes a garden and up hill will lead you to the Royal Observatory… We are panting hard walking up the steep hill… The Royal Observatory is home of Greenwich Mean Time and the famous prime meridian of the world.

I am searching up and down for the world longitude but fail to locate it!!! I remember everyone been there will take a photo of Kuala Lumpur’s longitude!!!
Our visiting journey ended here, the remaining time is all for shopping…. We walk back to the train station at Cutty Sark, pass through a Vietnamese Restaurant, wait a sec, why is Cantonese fried in the Vietnamese Menu????
We were too tired and fall asleep on the train journey back to town…
The night is falling again by the time we reached to Oxford circus… and raining too Me just can’t resist to walk into the fashion outlet… Oh…. I saw Muji, and also David and Goliath store… but things are so expensive!
Mum is making noise for food again and we at last decided to stop by one of this pizza house. We actually wanted to order a medium pizza for sharing, but the waiter keep on bugging us for second main course; we have no choice and order another carbonara spaghetti.. We were too stuffed after this meal.
Shops almost close and we found the shopping heaven in Oxford street. Primark!!!
Primark is a departmental store selling all kind of clothing, women casual wear, formal wear, inner wear, shoes, bags, accessories, skincares, same goes to men clothing, children and teen.. there is a section selling the bedding accessories also… All in cheap price… Me and mum took hours wandering in Primark.. So far, me got a blue checked dress, a t-shirt, bag as Christmas present for Cat, some accessories and not forgetting my BB’s shirt.
Exhausted from a full day tour and shop, and without proper sleep in the coach last night… we went back to hotel for packing and rest.
